Ventajas

Flexible hours, nice and clean environment, not a difficult job. Good little side job, just be prepared for the cons.

Desventajas

Under tremendous pressure to cold call past clients. It's annoying for clients to keep getting called several times each season to "confirm" their appointments or beg them to come in to see us the current year. These people don't answer the phone and if they do, they hang up in your face or are just uninterested. Also, there are usually appointments every hour on the hour and the tax pros sometimes don't even get time to eat between clients. Sometimes they may have to snack which is an unhealthy thing to do all day. All because H&R Block's philosophy is the clients come first. To heck with the employees' needs.

Ventajas

It’s a job and I hear they will hire anyone if you pass their tax class which they will most likely pay for because they treat their employees so bad that people drop like flies.

Desventajas

Only one bathroom at our location which is in a shopping center. Distract Manager does not care if you are a woman. He purposely schedules you alone and the creepy clients are allowed in the back room without supervision. I just had a client walk in on me because they refused to fix the lock until they sent someone back unattended in this creepy back hall way that goes to our restroom,. Sorry that happened to you, we fixed the lock but letting clients unattended in our back took and back door unattended is ok. That’s the email I got back from this dm.

Ventajas

Flexible availability. Path for promotion is obvious and quantified.

Desventajas

Bonus/commission it is based on level and sales so is low in states without a state tax form. Hourly wage comes out of bonus. Pressure to sell items that don't add to your commission. They push customer surveys but you can be penalized if someone complains about the company, price, amount of emails etc even though you have no control. Some employees are frustratingly low quality and you will spend time helping or fixing their mistakes time that works against your commission. You are expected to answer phones, make appointments, scan, print, take money, help new comers all while maximizing returns. If you take over someone's client and find a mistake you are expected to work against your commission to file amendments peace of mind claims etc.
