Ventajas
- Friendly colleagues, albeit cliquey and gossipy - Superiors can be nice, although teams dependent - Pantry can be well stocked (every centre's pantries are well stocked except the main one at HQ ironically) - Good training ground and well-established brand name
Desventajas
- Leaves needs a year to be booked and very frequently rejected due to manpower issues. Funny thing is, how do they manage MCs then? If MCs (a last min leave), can be approved, why can't they plan part timers/contractors to take our classes for a day when we need to go for our plans? This causes the next issue which is a rampant number of MCs taken, legitimately or not, because people have to go for their own events that they've already tried telling the company a year in advance, or teachers being so burnt out from the amount of work from covers, marking, prep work, and admin work (calling parents, etc). - While the new schemes rolled out for the monthly teachers are encouraging, it takes such a long time to even achieve. The monthly scheme is so taxing to the point of burn out - can the monthly teachers even hold for so long? Some of the awards are also not well thought out, or just a half-assed attempt at retaining talent. The milestone award is awarded at the employees' 1.5-2.5 year mark. Those who unfortunately fall in the 1.5 year mark have no choice but to cash out at 1.5 years, even if they want to stay on. If you actually think about it, this creates unfairness as some employees will get more payout, causing resentment amongst employees who unfortunately fall in the 1.5 year mark category. These employees will have to wait for at least 2 years before the next measly bonus. Why would these employees wait and hold on to the monthly scheme, when there are other employers that can offer that amount or more elsewhere, with a similar 4+1 model? This ironically defeats the purpose of trying to retain talents, potentially spurring another great resignation after employees collect their milestone award. - Needless to say, with only 1-2 lead teachers, and 1 subject head per subject across centres, career progression is close to 0. You only stand around a 2% chance of promotion, across the hundreds of teachers that you're competing with.
