Desventajas
20% cut in pay due to inconsistent and flawed feedback - I have had to rectify issues twice now with incorrect feedback. If I hadn't backed myself up, my pay would have been cut incorrectly. Initially when I challenged this cut, I was told there was nothing they could do even though I had triple checked my work was up to standard. It was only after I kept pushing that a senior staff member agreed with me and corrected the issue. It should not take this much effort to be paid the low rates offered. This 20% cut is not a practice undertaken by any other business I am aware of and it's totally unfair. As many others here have noted, some proofreaders have entirely different standards from others. You're instructed to use timecodes for phonetic guesses or for inaudible audio, yet have your pay cut if you use an 'excessive' amount which is not properly kept on top of by proofreaders. Low pay for the amount of work required as you're paid per task not for the time you put in.
