Ventajas
The hours of work stay the same (8:30am - 5:00pm) so you never have to worry about leaving late. We get to work with people who have been victims of violent crime and really get to help them.
Desventajas
Upper management is horrible. I have never been so micromanaged in my entire life. Lunch time is monitored (at least for claims analyst), fridge space is monitored (per email from the executive director - do not store more food than one days worth), FORGET PAY RAISES!! No one has had a pay raise in over 4 years. Apparently it is not in the budget. Talking with coworkers during work hours is frowned upon. The executive director encourages everyone to get along and be friendly with everyone but if you talk to each other for more than a few minutes expect your supervisor to be notified which in turn you'll hear about. Everything is about Camp Everytown. It doesn't matter that we're all housed under SV Faces because the Victim Witness side of SV Faces is treated like the red-headed step-child. One-on-One meetings with the executive director is very impersonal and basically she says, "you're either with the SV Faces Program or not!" It's a very hostile work environment that has caused a lot of GREAT Advocates and Analyst to leave. It's funny how this place was such a wonderful place to work for in the past but now the executive director has turned it into a workplace hell. Oh and insurance- $50.00 Kaiser copay. The executive director wanted staff to complete a Non-Profit review and when it came back negative she just dismissed everyone's review and said she is no longer discussing it, ever. The executive director does not understand how to treat people and does not take constructive criticism well. It's either her way or no way at all. No place for professional growth either. No trainings and it seems like the crappier an employee you are the better you are treated. I hate this place. If there is a job opening and you get it, great. Use it as a stepping stone while you find a better place to work. I hope the District Attorney takes over and Victim Witness can join the other DA based programs.
