Ventajas

This company runs lean and performs very well. We have very few employees but we make a huge impact. It also means we know each other very well and work in close quarters. The owners are INCREDIBLE people to work for and be friends with. They go out of their way to help any of us in any way they can. So many times they have gone out of their way to care for an employee. I have never felt "safe" in any other position I have had in 9 years of experience. My manager is transparent and extremely encouraging and I never feel scared going into 1:1's anymore.

Desventajas

The only con ever is having to commute to work. That is it. That was my choice. I have no complaints about my pay, the culture, or management here.

Ventajas

My manager, who is no longer in this position at the company, was good at helping employees grow and learn. I enjoyed working for her, and my co-workers were good people whom I enjoyed working around.

Desventajas

My supervisor was overly concerned about publishing only positive aspects of the oil industry. The company should allow editors to cover all aspects of the industry, rather than only the positive ones. Telling only one side of the story is being less than objective. My salary, given my experience and what was expected, was modest, but that's common in journalism. There is comparatively little room for advancement. It's a fairly good job for a couple of years, and then it's time to move on. Finally, when an editor writes stores for the company and gets a byline, the company shouldn't take away the byline after the employee departs. All my bylines became "Rigzone staff" a year or so after I was gone. That never happened at any other job I've ever had, and it's wrong. My stories were written by me, not by the other "staff" at the company.
