Retool is a true rocketship company. We've grown 3x year over year in my tenure. This has provided me and other employees with growth opportunities. Taking ownership over key projects, working with large customers, building out features end-to-end, promotions into management roles, etc. If you thrive in this kind of environment, Retool will provide you with countless opportunities to step outside your comfort zone and make a big impact. The best part of this growth trajectory is that it is based on revenue and customer growth, so there's no fear of layoffs or other scenarios where the rugs might get pulled out from under you. Culture is very transparent. All KPIs are public (in Retool apps) and shared with the whole company. Leadership shares internal updates and board memos with the whole company and opens up for regular Q&As.

Desventajas

With any hypergrowth company, there are downsides. Things can be chaotic as we outgrow systems and processes. Some managers are overloaded with 10+ direct reports. At any given point, half of the company has been here for less than one year, leading to onboarding and growing pains. Internal systems like performance management, human resources, IT, management training, etc are just getting started.

Startup, you have ability to make an impact if everything aligns. If you're mid to senior level, I guess you'll land at some of the well known Series C+ AI startups.

Desventajas

Before I even started, there was a bait and switch: I applied and interviewed for a Director level role. I went through countless interviews, projects, presentations, got the offer, and when it was less than expected, I was then told it was down leveled. I should have walked away there but the process took way longer than others and I already declined another offer (regret). So I started, and high pressue and little support from the start. I was handed a half baked "dog food" tool for reporting, against all the standards in my role. My manager was stretched thin, and that showed with... again, severe lack of support and coverage from lateral teams and stakeholders, equally stressed from whatever pressure they were under.
