I would agree that the job of Clinical Interaction Specialist is a difficult one. You are on the phone with many members throughout the day dealing with different personalities, different programs and some members that struggle to understand their benefits and even their own conditions. I would say that every job has its struggles (Struggles in a clinical setting are very different but are of course still there). It really does take a special person to fit into the personality of the position of Clinical Interaction Specialist and it is not for everyone. Connecting with members on the phone is much more challenging than in person and the level of empathy, compassion, medical knowledge, computer skills, and customer service is difficult to balance but those that are successful here at RSA Medical possess all of these qualities.
As for advancement in the company; in the HR/Recruitment/Training department we have just hired an additional 2 Educators from within (former CIS employees) and the Lead Educator is also a former CIS. In the role of CEM, 75% of our CEMs are former CIS employees with only 25% hired from the outside. As the Company continues to grow, we will certainly always look “inside” first (We send all new opening postings internally first before advertising “outside” of the Company).
