Ventajas
- The medical benefits are great. For employees without a spouse or dependents, the coverage is fully funded by the state and comes with a very low deductible.
- Job stability is extremely strong.
- You continue to receive pay during spring break, Thanksgiving break, and the Christmas holidays.
- Paid time off is reasonable and fair.
- Numerous colleagues have advanced into higher roles both within this department and across other areas of the college.
- Twice a year the college hosts a Professional Development Day, offering complimentary meals from Sonny’s BBQ and allowing employees to attend development workshops to enhance their careers.
- The work provides a genuine sense of purpose.
Desventajas
- There are numerous people who will report anything you say--whether it's good or bad--to a higher up for the simple purpose of telling them.
- Occasionally, an employee from one department speaks on behalf of another without the necessary knowledge or training. When someone in Department A provides information that actually falls under Department B’s purview and gets it wrong, the student receives inaccurate information and becomes upset.
- The hourly pay is not that good (around $18 per hour).
- From time to time, you’re asked to work a few hours on a Saturday.
- The standard workweek is 37.5 hours rather than a full 40 hours.
- Annual salary increases typically only range between 2% and 3%.
