Good mission, solid product idea, and great colleagues. The hiring team hired smart, pleasant, and capable people to work with - unfortunately, half of those people are gone. The cons below are not about any of the foot solider up to middle management people that most interact with on a day-to-day basis. I will miss working with those people who either remain at the company or were let go.

Thought I was working at a unicorn, but it turns out unicorns aren't real. You are just a number at the end of the day. The lay offs were done in a way that seemed very rushed and disorganized. It underscored the disorganization and inexperience of the executive team - and I actually empathize with how difficult and necessary lay offs may be. Still, they couldn't pull this off in a better way. First, a lack luster group zoom from the CEO stating they would start the lay offs. He read his script and abruptly ended the call. Next, a 2-5 minute script read from an executive stating your role has been eliminated. Next, your computer is wiped (or not cause they probably caught IT off guard with these lay offs and some still hadn't had their computer wiped by the next week). Last, you wait. The executive had no idea how much severance, if there was severance, how long you would have health insurance, etc.. EVERYONE was left in the dark for the rest of the day (or more) on what a severance package may look like (or not look like). The severance package isn't great. They are bragging about taking care of us by providing us with COBRA - this is mandated by LAW. They laid off people who had started THAT week, people who ARE pregnant or expecting, people ON parental leave (only telling them through a separation agreement email - no phone call), people with children, people who were interviewing potential new hires, and many many more. At least it was clear that it wasn't personal - we were just a number needing to be cut to keep their dream alive. At the end of the day the lay offs highlighted that there is a lot of smoke and mirrors at this company. They have a solid product idea, but they fail to lead the company in a way that truly succeeds. Leadership seems way too distant (and maybe intentionally) and not aware of where the product needs to improve. They make decisions that routinely confuse workers who see it as opposite to what is needed. Just a big OOOOF. Disorganized and downsized!!

People you work with are great

Desventajas

Executive management is terrible. Zero accountability. Avoid at all costs. You will be given zero authority but made to own the fallout of executives' bad decisions. Seriously, avoid this company and Care Access if you value your sanity. Benefits are also a race to the bottom. They keep stripping them away because "we found we were above industry standard". Because who wants to do more than the minimum, am I right?
