Some genuinely kind and good-hearted people work here, and many colleagues do their best to support one another and deliver good work.

Desventajas

The organisation can feel firmly rooted in its established ways of working, with limited appetite for evolution or modernisation. Communication and management approaches can at times create an environment where responsibility is felt more individually than collectively, which can affect confidence and morale. Much of the leadership team has spent the majority of their careers within the business. While this brings strong institutional knowledge, it can also result in a fairly narrow range of perspectives and a noticeably top-down leadership style. Many senior leaders have built long careers within the organisation, which creates continuity but can also mean new perspectives or different approaches are slower to gain traction. Representation within senior leadership also appears relatively limited, which may make it harder for a broader range of experiences and viewpoints to influence decision-making. Employees who offer different perspectives on how things could evolve may sometimes find it challenging to feel those views are fully heard. Some policies can feel reflective of a more traditional approach to employment. For example, new joiners are expected to spend their first 12 weeks fully on-site with limited flexibility, which can be difficult for those with caring responsibilities or existing commitments. Leave is managed through an accrual-based system where holiday builds gradually rather than being available upfront. Employment contracts are typically issued only after background checks, including salary verification, are completed. While these processes are often described internally as ways to “protect the culture,” some employees may find it difficult to clearly understand what culture is being protected in practice. Trust is frequently referenced as a core value, although some processes can give the impression that it is something employees are expected to continually demonstrate rather than something readily given. There can sometimes feel like a noticeable gap between the organisation’s external messaging and the day-to-day employee experience. While the company promotes “tech for good,” aspects of the office environment and internal practices, from environmental considerations to accessibility for colleagues with disabilities, can feel somewhat behind the curve. Greater transparency around areas such as diversity and pay reporting may also help reinforce credibility around the organisation’s social value messaging. It’s perhaps not surprising that some talented people choose to continue their careers elsewhere after gaining experience within the organisation. For those who thrive in highly traditional, structured environments this may work well, but others may find the culture less aligned with the modern and inclusive ways of working that many organisations, including its own clients are now moving towards.

Experiences shared after leaving the business often reflect how individuals have interpreted the culture and ways of working over a period of time. It’s clear from your review that this did not feel like the right environment for you, and that aspects of how the organisation operates were challenging in practice. It’s encouraging that you recognised the contribution and intent of many colleagues, even if your overall experience was not a positive one. As an organisation that has grown steadily over a number of years, there is an ongoing balance between maintaining the strengths that have supported that growth and evolving how we work. We are actively and consistently working to broaden perspectives, improve how we communicate decisions, and create space for open dialogue, particularly as expectations of modern workplaces continue to change. We know that how these things are experienced day to day matters just as much as the intent behind them, and this is an area we continue to focus on as we scale. Building an environment that reflects both our values and the expectations of a growing and diverse workforce is an ongoing process. Ensuring that people feel heard, supported, and able to contribute to how the organisation evolves will remain an important part of that journey. — Natalie Dunn, Head of People Services

Even after being forced out in a deliberate and humiliating manner I still suffer from nightmares today. it's clear to see that the positive reviews are written by the CEO after seeing the negative ones. This is her style. I remember her reaction when she sent out the staff survey and was angry that people told the truth about what they thought of the company. You could not complete the staff employment survey anonymously, which gave her power. For me she felt threatened by young women and and if you were a female with children, your days were numbered. I dreaded any emails coming from the CEO. Imagine sitting at your desk, heart beating, stressed out as soon as received an email, fearful of of ridicule or criticism. and certain members of staff looked down on me because of my race and working class background. If you dare to speak out, you will suddenly find yourself being monitored for mistakes and then labelled as performing poorly and then put under investigation. The year I was there the CEO sacked 5 people on the spot, who were then thrown off the premises. The CEO would often rant at you, should you do something human, like make a mistake. At the time I was there the CEO was also HR. i spent days crying, miserable and alone. Even though it was years ago, the hurt and pain still remains, how the CEO and a particular employee nearly destroyed my life, In this company you will never get a second chance if you struggle or have any personal issues. They will tear you up.

We take all constructive feedback on board and are keen to look for ways to improve our workplace, so that we can attract and retain great talent. However, for this and similar reviews that are wholly untrue, hateful and trolling, our response is for the benefit of other readers. Given the very well publicised shortage of skills, it is obvious that people can chose the company that they work for and will quickly move onto another job, without much difficulty or drama, if unfairly treated. When we are required very occasionally to investigate and legitimately act on issues resulting from misconduct, we appreciate that this may result in retaliation and anonymous, negative posts on Glassdoor. In this particular case, we received from various concerned members of staff (not just one person, as is claimed in this review) reports of repeated instances of misconduct and also persisting under performance. These allegations were investigated and found to be true and significant. We understandably acted on this, doing so in a professional, respectful manner and as discretely as the challenging circumstances allowed because the person became verbally and physically abusive. We work hard to ensure that people enjoy working here and want to stay. We have a very multicultural and diverse workplace and foster a positive, inclusive environment where people feel respected, trusted, empowered and supported. The vast majority of people value and appreciate that, welcome the professional responsibility and opportunities offered, and can be entrusted with the flexibility and freedoms given to them. Informed consistently produces great work and wins so many prestigious awards because our people are motivated and inspired to learn, collaborate, problem solve and achieve together. On the company's website and Twitter feed, our people happily share their views and personal experiences about working at Informed, so please do look at those to help you form a balanced opinion. They didn't fire me during the COVID-19 crisis. I thought they might fire people as they need an excuse to do that.

Desventajas

The worth of an employee's effort is lost at a place like this as people are running around all day. When my workload became unbearable, I talked to my team leader to help reduce stress. Rather than helping me, he started listing the amount of work he has to do. It was quite disappointing.

Natalie Dunn, People Services As the responsible leader within our People Services team, I have full overview of the people joining and leaving the company. We’re a mid-sized business which means that we’re big enough to have the breadth of capabilities and resources to invest in upskilling, coaching and caring for our staff, whilst being small enough to get to know and treat our people as valued colleagues and individuals. In my view, this review is fake for two reasons. The first is based on the references to COVID and the timing that this person alleges to have left the company, because I know that no member of staff has been furloughed, made redundant or left for any COVID related reason. The second reason is that the company has diligently managed work priorities, individual workloads and staff wellbeing (using leading mental wellbeing triaging techniques) at daily team stand-ups and weekly meetings with their responsible director. Separately, People Services have called individual members of staff for relaxed, private chats whenever we sensed someone might be experiencing personal, home or work related problems. In these ways, we are checking-in with our people every single day to support their mental wellbeing and ensure they are coping with working remotely. No one has reported experiencing any significant issues, including any of our graduates and young professionals, and in particular there have been no problems with unsustainable workloads or people struggling with the work assigned to them. Since implementing full remote working, the company has gone to very considerable lengths to ensure that no one is isolated and it has never been left to the discretion of any individual team leader to make decisions about assigned priorities, workloads, personnel related issues or maintaining communications with team members. For all of the reasons outlined above, this post is in my opinion disingenuous. James Cruddas, Lead Technical Consultant Personally, I’m proud of the way that the company has come together as a whole to support each other and our clients through the challenges that COVID has bought us all. We’re a world class digital consultancy that has developed sophisticated digital work scheduling tools that enable all of our people to collaborate and support each other in an open, agile and adaptive way. These online tools have built-in safety features that alert us to and protect us from becoming overworked for lengthy periods of time. Don’t get me wrong, there are times when we are very busy – that’s when our daily team stand-ups and weekly director team catch-up meetings are used to re-balance the workloads, as well as renegotiate priorities and reschedule deadlines when necessary. Everyone is in the same boat, so both colleagues and clients have been very empathetic and supportive since COVID hit us. These online collaboration and work management tools, as well as the daily and weekly team catch-ups, enable us to plan, assign, monitor and report on peoples’ workloads and how they are coping. Alongside this, we’re offered a wide selection of excellent wellbeing initiatives e.g. guided meditations, fitness classes. We’re also assigned a buddy, so we can check-in with each other and there are a wide variety of personal development and wellbeing masterclasses on offer. These things were in place even before lockdown. Since lockdown, staff have been asked to suggest improvements and this resulted in a number of key wellbeing modules being quickly enhanced and refocused to better support full remote working and being delivered online. Everyone at Informed has valued and benefited from this support. If this post and review is genuine, I am very sorry you feel disappointed about your team leader and time at Informed. However, I cannot reconcile what you’ve said with the reality of 7+ years of working life at the company. We’re a medium sized business and most of us know each other even if we’ve not worked directly together, so it’s not like you can get completely lost within the company or nobody notices you, like you can within a huge corporation. For those reading this response that are thinking about joining us, I can personally tell you that you that my colleagues are great people and very smart, capable, supportive professionals. You can build a very rewarding career here, working at a growing international digital transformation consultancy that regularly wins leading industry awards. Please get in touch, and we can arrange for you to chat with me or any of the colleagues who actually work here. We’d be happy to explain what it’s like to experience Informed Solutions ‘in real life’.
