Ventajas
If Ignite is buying out your company, it's slightly better than simply going out of business. At least for the customers.
Desventajas
There will be no new investment in technology or product functionality. Their entire business model is to make money on support. They may add some new features for the top handful of customers, and provide the new features in a newly named "product" so that they can double the cost of support. Ignite owns something like 40 software companies, acquired (AFAIK) when the company was about to go out of business. After acquisition they generally lay-off 80% of the employees. All engineering work is done by one group (for all 40 software companies), mostly offshored at low hourly rates. All employees must run monitoring software on their laptops that tracks their hours worked, takes screenshots of the desktop and face shots from the camera every 10 minutes, captures all websites visited, emails sent, and files touched. They have no HQ, no sales, no marketing aside from a few web pages, no IT department. All systems are cloud based services and employees must purchase and manage their own laptops.
