It was a great look into various agencies and you had the opportunity to network. The work that you do is usually pretty interesting (certain divisions certainly more than others) and depending on your supervisor you could be largely autonomous and free to do your work on your own (rather than being micromanaged or babied such as it is with some internships)

At the time the internship was unpaid and the cost of living / communting in DC was high. immediate supervisor was great, upper management was unclear with directives
