Ventajas
The team here is top-notch in every department, and the atmosphere is very collaborative. It is rare (even at a start-up) for every group to get along so well. Sales, marketing, and engineering all get along and even go out for beers on Fridays. Everyone helps each other out and does so happily. The reason everybody gets along so well is each person has a passion for what they are doing. We are all working towards the same goal. I have been at some good companies in the past and some terrible companies in the past. BlueData ranks at or near the top when it comes to places I have enjoyed working. The location of the office is also a huge pro. All you have to do is walk down stairs and you are in the middle of Castro Street in Mountain View. Every kind of food you can imagine is within 1-2 blocks. Or you can take advantage of the free lunch that BlueData brings in every day for employees. It is an open floor plan which I think is a pro. This allows everyone to work together without being confined to a small cubicle or office.
Desventajas
If you are looking for a large corporate structure then this is not for you. A couple people have left because they did not understand what it was really like to work for a start-up. Some may think the open floor plan is a con. The only real negative I have is that the office is located above some restaurants. They must have their speakers on the ceiling because the music can distract you at times when really trying to concentrate (especially if it is a good song). Also parking can be impossible if looking between the hours of 11-2, but no problem any other hours.
