I've been interviewed by Wise a few times over the years, and always the experience has left me feeling somewhat uncomfortable. Due to a relocation possibility I decided to give it a go one last time, and pff it indeed will be the last time I'll be spending my time with this company or its products. The first round interview with the recruiter started with her being 5 minutes late and not apologising for this when she finally joined. Then I was asked to give a 3-4 minute intro of my career and explain what kind of opportunity I'm looking for. All basics here except the recruiter was working on something else while I talked and then at the end told me that the job opening I was applying to is already closed and that they would later send me some JDs to look at. She continued to be distracted and when I asked her if this is a good time after all, she said yes but her behaviour didn't change. During the rest of the interview I was almost not allowed to ask questions at all, and the one I managed to squeeze in, about remote work, proved that Wise might have quite a micromanagement-driven culture. Needless to say I'm still waiting for those JDs or at least a rejection email 1,5 weeks after this waste of time.

Stage 1 Recruiter / Talent Screen, Stage 2 Hiring Manager + Engineering Lead. Stage 1 was pretty straightforward. Stage 2, half the interview was to talk about a theoretical problem and the second on something I had worked on. the interview felt poorly structured, and the engineer on the call was rude and off putting - poor people skills. I then received an automated email saying I did not progress, which is fair but candidates deserve actual feedback, not a generic email. You've invested time to speak to me, you should have the time to write candidate feedback - or don't hire!
