The answer I gave was reflective of previous experiences with the exact situation described. Typically I look to determine which projects or tasks can be remedied in the shortest amount of time to help not only move forward with resolutions, but to also build momentum with the team as they experience "wins". These "wins" not only feel good, but also generate a momentum or steam to propel forward into more difficult or involved tasks. Additionally, I may ask the project or task owner if the project or task is still of a high priority, or, if there is allowance to move the project down on the priority list, this may free up more resources to focus on the true high priority projects remaining.
