An extremely simple question straight out of OO textbook from any reasonable CS program. With regard to your interview experience, it is also very standard so I think saying "waste of your time" is misleading. CS job is very competitive and gets paid much higher than others. Very common for tech companies to fly someone across US, interview for a whole day and reject. It's just part of the process.
