Group assessment and then individual interview but I think they might have stopped doing individual interviews now. In the group assessment we sat around a table and were given a booklet with a scenario. The scenario was that we had to match the customer with the bakery item depending on what the customer ‘said’ they wanted. We had 5 mins individual reading and then 20 mins where we matched these up as a group and when time was up we each chose a customer and had to explain why we matched that customer to the bakery item. For example, there was one customer that said he liked butterscotch cake and there was an item on the list that was a butterscotch bun so I matched that to him and also added that perhaps I could encourage him to sign up for a my Waitrose card as you can get free tea/coffee with a purchase that he could have with his bun. Really basic but they loved that answer haha. I guess just try to speak up in the group, if you offer to take notes make sure you are also making suggestions and not just being the writer or listener, sit forward and look like you are engaged (don’t sit back and act like you’re a know it all - some girl did that and nobody liked it), try to think about teamwork and put yourself in the place the place of the customer - remember the customer is always right in Waitrose!
