The recruiter was an absolute disaster and delivered a very negative experience. The hiring manager and staff were very intelligent and very helpful but the recruiter as the initial point of contact really hurt my chances for the role.
The recruiter made the following mistakes:
- Forgot to send me a follow up and lied about it
- could not schedule meetings with the hiring staff without another person. Delaying the process at least 2 - 3 weeks.
- not responding to my questions about interview format
- starting my rejection email with “happy hump day.”
The delays played a role in me not getting an offer. I ultimately own the responsibility in not getting an offer but it is not helpful to have the person who gets paid to recruit new people being a hindrance.
