TravClan Interview Experience (On-Campus Placement)
Role: Data Analyst Intern
Company: TravClan
Location: Virtual (Campus Drive at NIT Raipur)
Mode: Online Assessment + Virtual Interview
1. Round 1: Aptitude Test
The first round was an online aptitude assessment covering basic math, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking. The test duration was around 30–40 minutes, and time management played a crucial role. Around 200+ students appeared, and the top scorers were shortlisted for the next round.
2. Round 2: Data Analysis Assessment (Excel + Python)
Shortlisted candidates received an Excel dataset, which required thorough analysis using Python.
We were expected to:
Clean and process the data using pandas and numpy.
Extract meaningful insights, trends, and anomalies.
Perform basic EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) and visualizations (matplotlib/seaborn).
Summarize the findings in a PowerPoint report, including charts, insights, and business recommendations.
Key Skills Tested: Data cleaning, visualization, storytelling with data, and practical application of Python.
3. Final Round: Interview
Candidates with well-structured PPTs were invited for the final interview via a virtual meeting link. The panel focused on:
SQL: Joins, group by, subqueries, aggregate functions.
Python: Data structures, loops, pandas usage.
Guesstimates: Logical problem-solving, e.g., estimate daily app users or market size.
Case Study: One real-world business scenario was given, and I was asked to reason through it using data thinking and prioritization.
Example case study prompt:
"You’re given a drop in booking trends for a region on TravClan—how would you identify the root cause and solve it?"
Key Takeaways:
The process was well-structured and highly data-driven.
Emphasis was placed on practical skills over theoretical knowledge.
Good communication, clarity in reasoning, and storytelling with data made a strong impression.
