      Entrevista

The whole process took a little over a month. Starting with recruiter screen, then HM screen. After this there is a Case Study/Panel presentation where they ask you to present previous work you did to a group of stakeholders (people you'll be working with from finance, marketing, etc.) and then finally an interview with your HM's manager.

Five stages. Final stage involves you giving an expert level presentation and demonstration on the ThousandEyes solutions with no assistance in prep. Even though being a subject matter expert is not essential according to the Job Spec.

Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. El proceso duró 6 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en ThousandEyes (New York, NY) en sept 2021

      Entrevista

I was contacted about the position over LinkedIn and decided to give them a shot even though multiple previous PMs had left the position I'd be interviewing for. That should have been a red flag in retrospect, but I thought it could be an interesting opportunity. Instead, it turned out to be a big waste of time. The interview process wasn't clear from the beginning. There was one interview a week for about 5 weeks--slowly scheduled one at a time--then a whole bunch of surprise interviews at the end. The questions were simple enough about my experience and my ideas for the product. I even received positive feedback and was told I was spot-on in my assessment of their issues. Each second round interview was very similar from person-to-person, redundant almost to the point of having de ja vu. The whole process was more of a "slowly meet the team" kind of event. The worst part, though, was that they took notes on my ideas as items to follow-up on, then didn't make an offer after 2 initial interviews, 5 second round interviews, and 2 back-to-back presentations including one that outlined my ideas for the strategic direction of their product. Talk about unpaid work! Not that I would have accepted anyway after the CTO/Founder's behavior during the final presentations. He showed up late, delaying the start and forcing me to adjust the presentations on the fly. He never asked a single question, only offering criticisms that showed his impatience and the fact that he wasn't listening to my clarifying comments. Then he turned his camera off in the middle of the second presentation and checked out. He was completely unprofessional and middle management went along with it silently. It's unclear to me if this was a one-off event or typical behavior for him. In all fairness, middle management was friendly and easy-going up until that point, which is why I continued the process in the first place. At a company that small, however; the people at the top matter a great deal.
