      Entrevista de Market Development Manager

      22 feb 2016
      Empleado anónimo
      Los Angeles, CA
      Oferta aceptada
      Experiencia positiva
      Entrevista normal

      Solicitud

Solicité el puesto a través de la recomendación de un empleado. El proceso duró 2 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en The Coca-Cola Company (Los Angeles, CA) en abr 2013

      Entrevista

The overall process took me 9 weeks. I had 3 separate interviews, not including a phone screen interview The first was with the Area Sales Manager, and two District Sales Managers, the second with a District Sales Manager and Key Account Manager and the third with the Director of Sales. All of the interviews had the same basic format: First they went through my resume and asked me to share some of the highlights of the various places I worked before. Next, they asked me a series of STAR format questions: 1. Name a time you had to deal with an angry customer 2. Name a time you had to make a difficult decision 3. Name a time you made a sale 4. Name a time you had an issue with a coworker 5. Name a time you had to overcome a language barrier After these questions, they gave me a story with information and I was supposed to role play with them. You can make up whatever you want as you go along and they mainly want to see how creative you can be. In one of the interviews, the role play was that I am a sales rep trying to convince a high school to take in Coke products exclusively and place fountain or vending machines. Also negotiate branding visibility and funds. ( Be prepared for "we don't want the students drinking soda", " we don't want free advertising for Coke", "we don't want the trash from bottles on campus" etc.) Your responses can be to suggest venders with all water and juice or venders with a timer so they can buy soda after school, to place a vender in only the teachers lounge or recreational areas, Placing fountain machines with powerade, vitamin water and tea instead of sodas, donating recycle bins, donating money for a new scoreboard or band uniforms to get them to drop the competitor, etc. In the last two interviews I got another role play. It was a sales rep trying to convince a beach shack owner to take in his sunscreen, and place it at eye level on the shelves and also place a small rack near the register for travel size sunscreen. (Be prepared for "why should we market your sunscreen?" "it's just easier for me to leave it up high on the shelves" and "the big bottles are cheaper for me to buy so why sell the travel size?"). Your responses can be to offer merchandising support where your merchandisers will visit weekly to reset the shelves, offer special pricing on the travel size because the owner has multiple locations, free racks to display the travel size bottles and to show a business plan to show how it will increase his sales and make more money. Explain that tourists visiting the beach just need a little sunscreen not a huge bottle, etc. At the end of the role play, they'll ask if you have any questions. This is a good opportunity for you to show that you've done your research about the position. good luck!

      Pregunta 1

The most difficult question I was asked was asking for multiple scenarios where I was dealing with an angry customer or client.

Started with HR and then they did a phone screen. From there you went to a live interview. Very thorough and had a live portion of selling. Role playing. After the acceptance letter you had to clear a background check, which did take some time.

Very interactive. A couple screening phone calls by HR. Had to do a live sales call. Otherwise standard interview. HR was very engaged out of Chicago and was a great experience for such a big company.

Referred by an employee/friend. They sent me their referral link and I applied online. The process was fast but because they were trying to hire and interview before the buy out I believe. I don't believe it is normally this quick. I applied Thursday and by Friday I had a phone screen scheduled for Monday. The phone interview was with someone from HR, very typical and average. We talked about my experiences and current role. She did ask me one behavior based questions and I had to answer in STAR format. It was probably about 20 minutes, we scheduled an in person interview while on the phone. HR will send you some information on STAR format answers and a page on Coca Cola values that the questions will be based off. The in person interview was with the district manager and also a current market development manager. Both were very nice and welcoming. They asked me a few basic questions regarding my resume and why Coke. Then there were 3 behavior based questions, must answer clearly in the STAR format. I will say, the questions were a bit confusing and I wish I would have taken more time to think and make sure I answered all of it. They were one of those questions that had like 3 questions in 1. I could have done better, so a tip would be to have them repeat the question and make sure you take the time to think about your answer and how you can answer all the questions clearly. Next, there was a role play. They give you a situation and some background info and 10 minutes to prepare. They leave the room.
