It was helpful to have an employee referral, and other employees are brought in during the interview process to aid in questioning. Have questions prepared for them because they didn't have much prepared for the people coming in. Meeting with the owner is a nice touch. I feel that this allows for transparency, but it also foreshadowed the micro-managing of upper management.
