Contacted by a recruiter originally for a VP job (same as I hold today). This ultimately turned into a director job for various reasons, but I was still interested. I gave my salary expectations upfront and we went through 4 or 5 rounds of interviews. After a week of no contact, the recruiting manager called to say that the salary I expect was far above their range and that they would love to have me in the org but this position wasn’t a fit.
