      Entrevista

I applied online and received a call the next day, which ended up being a phone interview. The person was nice, everything went well, and she scheduled an interview. I met with her and a young administrator. The Foundation helps and mentors disadvantaged and hopefully college-bound high schoolers. I felt the interview went well and believed it would be a great job for a really important cause. I'm an experienced writer and editor and was looking for part-time work nearby. About two weeks later, I was called in for a THIRD interview with two more people, which lasted over an hour. Again, I felt it went well. They gave me a test in which I wrote a teen's bio--similar to what the person in the position would do. I have an extensive online portfolio, but understood that every interviewee should be treated the same. Then I waited. And waited. And finally wrote the person who originally called me. She emailed back and said they decided to hire a full-time office assistant and I might hear in a few months if they needed help with writing. Basically, I felt they didn't know what they wanted. And, I felt like I was strung along--three interviews for such a small company and a part-time job? Really? I felt like it would have worked out, but that there were younger people making hiring decisions, they prolonged the process, and were disingenuous. I hope things improve and they mature; the cause is an important one.
