      A very long and tedious interview process for an entry-level customer support role, not worth it. Their expectations are for a position that’s over 60K. They quiz you for things that they are supposed to train you under a 10-15 minutes time limit when an actual support advisor took over 5 minutes just to get back one of my questions and did NOT provide the step by step guidelines like they expect you to during the interview. I went on their live chat before my interview to get a feel of how fast, professional and personal they are supposed to be, and not surprisingly, they did NOT live up to the standards that they impose on you during the technical interview especially when you are only given 10 minutes to answer everything perfectly with minimal knowledge of their platform and services. I had client service experience at a luxury brand, and I studied for days and researched everything I could. I answered all the questions to the best of my capabilities, and when the interviewer asked me what my takeaway was, they were impressed that I got everything right. And yet in the end they still give you an excuse as to why you are not a good fit. I was not expecting good news since I did not have high hopes after reading all the reviews, knowing that they purposely pass candidates to the final stage just to fail them afterwards with no real reason. I wouldn’t waste my time applying again in the future knowing that companies that have similar interview processes (sales pitch, customer service role play) would provide with you materials and adequate time before throwing you in the role play scenario expecting you to be perfect. They kept emphasizing that getting the right answer is not the point, but in the end that’s all they care about. Unless you know someone in the company already or if you have used Shopify for a very long time, then don’t bother wasting your time applying. They are hiring as if they pay you 60K+.

The technical interview is intended to be rigorous and is used to measure how candidates can handle the fast-paced environment of a Support Advisor. No two days are the same as a Support Advisor, which is why it’s important to learn how to work in an intense environment and understand how to multitask while doing so. Shopify is intentional about the interview process, we want to make sure that applicants are completely prepared for the type of environment that they may encounter while being in that position.       Typically 3 rounds. They do a good job of getting to know you and who you are. Then there's a gauntlet where they put you on the spot in some customer scenarios to figure out how you operate.

      The process was straight forward, I filled out the form on the Shopify website from which it took about 2 days to hear back with an invite to a lifestyle interview. There it was just about getting to know me and how I got on the road that has led me to apply for this position. After that I was invited to a technical interview which consisted of 2 chats and a Email. Overall I highly recommend creating a test store before the technical interview as it helped out a lot in preparation. The whole process took about a month
