I was referred by a recruiter that I met at the career fair. I had a phone interviewer with another recruiter, a one-on-one interviewer with a mortgage banking recruiter, and then a one-on-one interview with two directors on the reverse mortgage banking team. The process took a while because the banking recruiter was on vacation during my interview process. I was initially impressed with the company but it quickly became clear that this was a high-pressure sales environment where you would be on the phone making 400 calls a day (the recruiter's exact words) and every interaction with a client would be monitored and micromanaged (one of the recruiters' words). The interview process was annoying. The recruiters asked similar questions and I didn't think they were particularly insightful; they were just reading off of a memorized script of sorts. Prepare to tell them you are motivated by money, that you are competitive, and that you will be happy to work 60-70 hour weeks. One of the directors asked me a very strange question: "Besides the death of a loved one, what's the worst thing that has ever happened to you?" I felt that was a very dark question that could yield some very awkward answers. Perhaps they just want to see how you react. I felt it was a violation of privacy and it made me feel icky.
