I was referred by Goodwill Industries to Portland Habilitation Center, NW because I was coming off a disability and needed help finding a job after being off for 2 years. I filled out an extremely large application and sent it off. After reviewing my application (and finding out they would receive a tax credit if they hired me), I was contacted for a phone interview.
I contacted PHC a couple of days after the phone interview and was informed that they were sending me a packet for a background check as the job was in a Federal office. Once I received that and completed that and returned it, I was contacted again for an in-person interview.
I met with the person in charge of hiring for my position and a standard interview ensued. I was told during the interview process that the person that was currently in the job was going to be terminated and I was informed as to the reason! I was also told that the other people in that office that were assigned by PHC needed to have a leader and if I was hired, I would be that leader.
3 weeks after the in-person interview my background check was completed and I was offered the position and started soon after.
