I've interviewed at companies large and small and this was by far the worst interview experience I've ever had.
You start by interviewing with a recruiter. Then the next step is to do a test project. Then after they know you can do the work you get to interview with the hiring manager.
The hiring manager was one of those people that it seemed pretty clear no one was going to 'fill his shoes' as he had been in the role previously (and it's been open for over 6 months). To my surprise, I was told that they were moving forward with my candidacy.
The last stage is to go through a 3-hour interview with five different people at the company asking you a series of behavioral questions that "HR gave to me", as I was told by four of the five interviewers. My interview was broken up with a break in the middle so it basically took up the whole day.
The next day I get an email asking to meet. I give my availability and hear nothing back. We set up a time, but the recruiter misses the meeting. An hour after the fact they ask if we can meet a bit later. Finally, when we connect I'm told "Everyone was very high on you but we decided not to move forward." I was flabbergasted by the amount of my time they had wasted in this process. The reason they gave me was a concern for something that was tested at the test project stage of the interview process. Why did I have 5.5 more hours of meetings AFTER that?
This was a joke and the company is very bloated with management layers on top of management layers making whimsical decisions and there was no clear direction that anyone could give me for the team or the goals of the team when I was asking the questions. It was clear that 4/5 of the panel did not care about the interview and they were just going through the motions.
Have more respect for people's time than to help your team get through their workday by wasting our time.

Let's just say that my that my interview experience echoes what others have experienced. But an employee reached out to me encouraging me to apply. It seems the company wants to start experienced editors out at the bottom (even if they've previously worked for the company). I'm very disappointed about my time being wasted. I would not apply to the company again.

The interview with the hiring manager felt disorganized. I decline to answer.

First interview was a 30-minute conversation with a recruiter. Second interview was 45 minutes with the hiring manager. Then, a full interview day that consisted of five separate 45-minute interviews. All the interviews went well, but seven interviews seemed a bit much for the job, especially since I had to take a full day off of work for the interview day.

After applying to numerous jobs with Red Ventures and dealing with different recruiters, this last experience was the last straw
I applied through Linkedin and was contacted by a recruiter a few days later. She told me to apply again through the website (which I found odd) then said she would get back to me soon. After asking for my portfolio (which I don't have since I edit other people's work), I was sent a rejection email the next day.
Why did this recruiter reach out to me just to reject me? I met all the requirements, had more than enough experience, but recruiters don't actually want to do their job.
I was also rejected after another interview last year despite them only asking for ONE year of experience. These people don't seem to want to fill jobs with experienced workers. But I'm done applying with this company
