      Entrevista

I had a very strange experience interviewing with Pratt & Whitney, in Oklahoma City, and I would like to share my experience on Glassdoor. As a recently retired military veteran, I went through a job recruitment service called "Aerotek". The job recruiter called me in for a one-on-one career counseling and job matching interview. A couple of days later, he had set up a face-to-face interview for me with Pratt & Whitney for the position of a "F-117 Engine Logistics Manager". The interview was scheduled in the late afternoon at an "off-site" engine parts warehouse. The warehouse is a controlled area so everyone that works there has to have an area badge. Of course, I was not told this by the job recruiter. I walked into the warehouse, trying to find an office, front desk, or someone to help me. No one questioned me about not having a badge because I was wearing a full business suit for my interview. I finally found a warehouse employee and asked him where I could find the person conducting my interview. He did not have a clue. Luckily I arrived 15 minutes early, I wandered around for about ten minutes in the warehouse and happened to come across some folks working in an office. I asked around and finally found where my interviewer was (surprising enough I was not late). She acted very scatter brained and lost track of time and actually forgot that she was conducting my interview. I basically reminded her that I was her 3 pm interview appointment. The interview was conducted in a small office and by a panel of three managers from Hartford, Connecticut. The main interviewer explained the company's goals, policies, and the job. Each interviewer asked about six questions each, pertaining to management, logistics, problem solving skills, and my military background. Fifteen minutes into the interview, one of the interviewers flat out asked me in a sarcastic tone, "Do you want this job...or not?" I was shocked at first and then thought that this might be a test to see how I react. Of course, I did not react surprised and kept a calm...cool professional posture. The second interviewer asked me "Why do you want to work here anyway?" I answered all of their questions in a polite professional businesslike manner...but in the back of my mind, I just wanted to leave. The interview atmosphere is not what I had expected, the perception I got from all of this was that I had interrupted their schedule with my interview. I am not overly impressed at how Pratt & Whitney handles their interviews. If Pratt & Whitney performs interviews like this...how do they treat their employees? I do not want to work for Pratt & Whitney. I thought I would share my troubled experience with others and perhaps let others know exactly what I went through. Pratt & Whitney just lost some great potential job talent.
