Envié una solicitud electrónica. El proceso duró 6 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en One Degree (San Francisco, CA)

      Entrevista

I was contacted a month after applying and got a phone interview. I got a first interview which was over the phone. It was very basic and felt like a CS101 final exam where I was asked a lot of programming vocabulary questions. There was a coding challenge at the end where I had to write the HTML, CSS, and Javascript to create a page where a button that had a certain look and certain behaviors (it had to replicate itself). Ultimately since I have very little front-end experience and this was sort of a stretch job, I didn't get offered a second interview. Regardless of the outcome, I found the interview experience unpleasant because of its triviality.

The initial phone call, which was supposed to be a discussion about the organization morphed into a technical interview. I was asked to define several words relating to computer science, and given coding exercises. Normally you are prepared ahead of time for your technical interview, and the initial call is more general to just see if you are a fit. I felt that this was misleading, and lacked typical etiquette as no warning was given on the nature of the first call.

In both the email invitation and the calendar invite to this interview, you were informed that we would "go through a series of software development questions so I can gauge your skill level." We ask questions to verify you know what you put on your resume. Candidates who cannot answer basic questions about what they put on their resume are generally not a good fit for this role. We do not believe this approach is misleading or lacking in etiquette.
