      Entrevista

the interview was pretty standard in my experience, the interviewer took me around the facility and showed me around we spoke at length about my experience and future goals everything went good the job I applied for was a design/drafting role during the course of the interview I expressed my desire to get off the shop floor and was told that at the company everyone wears multiple hats sometimes we talked about me possibly learning about the tube laser which I was ok with because I think its a good thing to be able to have hands on real world experience with the end equipment and how it works but I stressed that I didn't want a shop floor job that's not what I am going to school for, when I was offered the job there was some details to iron out like before the official offer was sent out I was told the position was salary and then when the offer letter was sent officially it had turned into a hourly position when I asked why I was told it couldn't be a salary position to comply with labor laws which leads me to believe that this was a production/shop floor job with a decent pay and fancy title I had found out about a day I needed off during the course of the hiring process so I informed them during this phase that I would need a day off and also enquired about the pto schedule and was told the recruiter was waiting for confirmation if that date would be ok with the initial start date or if we needed to push the start date off a week both would be fine options for me while waiting I was informed that there is no sick time given and you get 1 week of pto at a year 2 weeks at 5 years and 3 weeks at 10 years this sounded a little light for me and also when I told other people I know in the industry they also thought that wasn't a very competitive pto program while waiting on the answer from the company I was sent an email informing me that because they hadn't heard from me in two weeks they were pulling their offer I responded and told them the last correspondence indicated they would contact me with an update about the days off i needed in advance.. all in all the pay was ok the benefits were not terrible the pto was less than competitive ive seen better at alot of factories over the years and all in all im pretty sure this job was not going to be a good fit for me in the end so its probably for the best id suggest anyone who goes to interview for this company stay on them and while they take their time making decisions (which is normal for engineering jobs from my understanding) just because you are waiting on them doesnt mean that they intend to contact you back so make sure to keep emailing your point of contact so he doesnt forget you
