Pretty normal. Interview with internal recruiter then a follow up with exec players. They wanted in-person and in Groton, CT. Which is fine but that location is next to nowhere and of course we have a pandemic.
Looking back, the recruiter gave me more information than I realized. She all but tried to talk me out of my interest on the phone and was the only person that looked remotely awake or interested during the in-person interviews.
I still can't understand why they wanted me to drive to Groton CT. Their building is old and worn. Their office is literally empty white walls with grey carpet. And the experience was less than inspiring.
All in all, the final meeting was a bit of a waste as they made it clear they weren't really interested in building or growing a successful company.
Just small town guys that want to stay relevant but only if that relevancy doesn't instigate any many changes to their daily routines.
Best they can hope for is maybe someday a larger competitor will buy them on a whim. Other than that, seems pretty impossible to think they will ever be anything more than a marginal player handing on to a couple percents of market share.
