Initial interview by phone: very pleasant conversation with the interviewer, lasting about 45 minutes. Focusses on the type of work involved, and you get to know a little more about the company. You are asked what you know about data engineering, and about your work background. The second interview involved pre-prepared completion of a data-cleaning task, using a method of your choice eg. Excel, Python, SQL. You show your method in a screencast during the interview, presentation style. I went with a Jupyter notebook, so it was broken into sections, but perhaps they were looking for something more Powerpoint slide-y.

I spoke to Calum who came across nice and friendly and was offered to proceed to the next stage of the interview process which was a logical reasoning and maths test. I looked at the tests involved and they looked a bit basic and did not reflect the work that I was supposed to perform and experience that I already had. I discussed this with Calum and unfortunately decided not to proceed. Overall a good friendly experience but would of liked to see a little more flexibility which would allow for the company to attract more diverse talent. The company size allows to use flexibility to compete with other much larger consultancies but is not being used.
