They based their entire technical assessment for a Software Test Engineer position on an Endpoint API automation for a product that mainly should focus on user experience/interface yet they still neglected this fact only to make the technical interview more challenging. I know that API testing is part of this position but the core of being a Software Test Engineer is user experience testing. Moreover, there are plenty of tools to test APIs instead of confusing candidates to write a JS code in an old fashioned way. I think hellochef technical team should come to their senses and know that their company/product is more about a nice looking and functional UI rather than complicated API requests. Also, I noticed they haven't filled the position yet and keep posting it again and again everywhere on recruiting platforms without properly considering what a QA/Test Engineer qualifications might be. I advise my Software QA colleagues to not waste their time going through their long employment process as in the end they'll neglect all your technical and soft skills and only assess you over testing an API endpoint's response and writing assertions using JavaScript.
