Introduction call with the lead that involved various technical and non technical questions. This was followed by a take home assignment which was tricky. Unfortunately didn’t get past this stage but it was generally a lengthy process.

Had the 1st screening then a take home exercise and then a tech interview. The tech interview was supposed to be 1.5-2 hours long (as stated in both the email and interview which consisted of low level bug finding, pseudo code and a
QA scenarios). However, on the day of the tech interview, the web app (meant for low level bug finding and pseudocode) could not be accessed from my end owing to strict WiFi policies. The interviewer suggested rescheduling however I explained that I only had access to WiFi at where I am. So the interviewer proceeded to use Google remote to do the bug finding exercise. When we were able to connect via Google remote, the interviewer then said that the bug finding exercise and pseudocode section will be restricted to 30 minutes. I was very surprised that a time restriction was placed on this part of the interview and felt that this will not show my real potential. During the 30 minutes, the Google remote was constantly disconnected and this took away time from the 30 minutes. Not only this there was a lot of difficulty testing the web app and finding the bugs because the UI interface could hardly be accessed! To make matters worse, I was also given this 30
Minutes to write out the pseudocode or test cases as well. I realised that the interviewer deliberately restricted the interview to less than 1.5 hours because they had no intention of furthering my candidacy. I asked the interviewer why was it that he mentioned at the beginning of the beginning of the interview that this was 1.5-2 hours long and he said that he will feed this matter back to the hiring manager to “improve” the process! I lost all my motivation by then and realised that if the company could do things like this (by deliberately failing the candidate) then this company is not a decent company to work with.
