      Entrevista de Graduate Test Engineer

      12 nov 2017
      Candidato de entrevista anónimo
      Londres, Inglaterra
      Oferta rechazada
      Experiencia positiva
      Entrevista normal

      Solicitud

Solicité el puesto a través de una agencia de empleo. El proceso duró 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en GAIN Capital (Londres, Inglaterra) en jul 2017

      Entrevista

Was first screened by a recruitment agency called Consultia. Had an in-face interview with them, followed by a rather simple coding exercise. Consultia really seemed to want to sell me off, went as far as telling me the typical interview questions. Actual interview with GAIN involved a small set of tests (knowledge of SQL, logic, numeracy, mathematical reasoning) as well as brain teasers and questions on types of testing, system security, and how to debug a system. Large focus on ensuring the candidate is truly passionate about software testing.

      Preguntas de entrevista [3]

      Pregunta 1

Coding exercise: You are building a checkout system for a shop which only sells apples and oranges Apples cost 50p, oranges cost 75p 1. Build a checkout system that takes a list of items at the till and outputs the total cost 2. Build a set of automated tests to test your checkout system I do not expect any user interface components to be developed for this task, just business objects and unit tests using a testing framework of your choice.

      Pregunta 2

Numeracy test: A company is running a campaign to reward its customers over a certain number of days. Every day the total amount of each order is added to a list. Each day a random customer wins the difference between the largest and smallest order in the entire list, and these orders are removed from the list. Find the total cost of running this campaign. The input: first line gives number of days campaign runs, and first number of each following line is the number of orders that day. All other numbers are order values. Example: 5 2 07 01 3 10 05 01 1 01 0 4 03 01 12 11 Expected result: 6+9+4+0+11=30

      Pregunta 3

Mathematical reasoning test: You have two ropes and a lighter. Each rope has the following property: If you light one end of the rope, it will take one hour to burn to the other end. They don't necessarily burn at a uniform rate. How can you measure a period of 45 minutes? And 15 minutes?
