If you were offered a code test before a phone call it is a testament to the strength you portrayed in you CV. Rest assured any and all code submitted in code tests is never used in any of our products. The reason for the test to see if you write and document correctly and in a manner in which we like to see, its an easy and quick way for us to gauge if you would be right to take you to the next stage. In this scenario we didn't communicate that well enough and it sounds like you had a bit of a rough time. As and when we are bringing in a new iOS developer we would be delighted for you to apply again as just because you were not right for this role doesn't mean that you wont be right for the next.
