There was a phone conversation followed by an onsite interview. The phone conversation asked about my experience and past projects. The onsite interview provided the opportunity to meet the team.

The actual interviews were great. The salary negotiations were terrible. They first requested my salary expectations, after extending a job offer (no salary specified). Based on the fact that my initial expectation was >10k higher than "what they had in mind", they decided to confer with their bosses to "see whether they can raise it a bit". The next day, they withdrew the offer without requesting input from me. They cited "differences in salary expectations" as the reason. This just felt disingenuous and a waste of everyone's time. The lack of respect and communication during a salary "negotiation" was frustrating. Additonally, the offer that they had in mind was the same salary that undergrad interns were receiving.
