This was probably one of the most bizarre experiences of my life. I submitted an application on Indeed for a "Marketing Associate" position. Soon after, a woman contacted me to come in the next day for an in-person interview. I arrived to the interview on-time with a portfolio of work examples. Two young women then began interviewing me and reviewing my portfolio for about an hour. During this time, they told me that even if I were to design for them, "I'd still need to make calls." Which sounded more like a sales job to me, but I told them I was still interested. I was then told that I had to wait for the owner to come in to interview me. I waited for around two hours in a conference room for her to grace me with her presence. She asked me a few questions until the one of the young women came to escort me out and let me know they'd be in touch soon. A few days later, the young woman asked that I do some freelance work for them to determine if I'd "be a good fit." I sent over a contract with terms and they signed, shortly after I send a design proof for some of the said work. I do not hear back from her that day, but at 10:00PM that evening, she emails me asking that I make a list of revisions to the design by 8:00AM the next morning. Of course, I never saw the 10:00PM email and did not submit any revisions by the time she demanded. The company then told me I "wouldn't be a good fit" and refused to pay me for the work I did. While I was disappointed I did unpaid work for them with designs they did use, I was happy I wasn't selected for this job as it was clearly a toxic work environment with supervisors that were completely inconsiderate of other's time.
