      Entrevista de Senior Data Analyst

      30 ago 2016
      Candidato de entrevista anónimo
      Sin oferta
      Experiencia negativa
      Entrevista difícil

      Solicitud

Envié una solicitud electrónica. El proceso duró 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Edmunds.com en ago 2016

      Entrevista

This is my most unpleasant interview, and I hope future candidates won't fall victim of the tricky interview process after reading my experience. It was initially communicated to me that the interview consists of 2 rounds of phone interviews, and 1 onsite final interview. However, they changed their mind on the fly, and added a data analysis project for me to work on 3 days after I received the invite for the final onsite. I was requested to complete the project within 3 business days and include a presentation after the final interview. I accepted their last-minute change request, and did the project. The initial feedback on the presentation was very good. However, 2 days later, I was surprised to learn that the interview panel is concerned that only one metric is used in measuring the project success, and asked me to redo the whole project, despite the fact that the project documentation clearly stated that “define 1 or more metric” to measure success would be sufficient. Fearing that I might end up in an endless loop of reworking on the project, while they continued to interview other candidates, I replied politely that I had never seen such type of request during an interview, and was hesitant to rework on an interview project. And for that reason, they denied my candidacy. I feel this interview process is a total of conspiracy, and a lack of transparency and fairness. Had I accepted their rework request and received offer, I would probably think twice whether this is the right company for me to join.

We are sorry to hear that your interview experience wasn’t as positive as we would have hoped. It is never our intention to create a burdensome, misleading, or unpleasant experience to our candidates. We do our best to assess the technical skills required by our positions during the recruitment process not to burden a candidate, but to ensure that the job is the best fit for both sides. Overall, a mis-hire doesn’t just hurt our company, it hurts the employee and sets their career back. We take that very seriously. However, your feedback is valuable as we do want to ensure that interviews, regardless of final decisions, are positive experiences and will certainly look at how we may be able to incorporate it into our processes. We wish you the best of luck!
