Chaotic interview process. Person in charge basically explained what an interview was to me. Also referred to themself formally as 'Mr' which seemed strange. I was then asked some very basic questions in terms of workflow. The building didn't look in a great shape. I was also told in no uncertain terms that the job had countless other applicants, a really negative and outdated tactic that I didn't think companies used anymore. I was told I'd be informed if I'd got the job or not within a matter of days. Though they already reached out to my referees asking them to sign off a large amount of questions in advance. I've worked for other institutions and no others had required that many for a speculative interview. Eventually I received a call 3 weeks after the interview asking me, quite literally 'WHY ARE YOU NOT WORKING HERE YET" It remains the strangest incident I've ever experienced in a job application. It was eventually deduced the project officer for some reason was unable to process a dbs check even though the correct forms were submitted (as approved by the government website.) I actually checked this with the government website. Alongside this, a negative remark was made during the call that I'd been interviewed even though I didn't have the grades they'd requested, this is regardless of another member of staff informing me this wouldn't be necessary. I told the person in question I hadn't even been offered the job yet and they told me over the phone 'well I m offering it to you now.' Phenomenally strange and unprofessional. The whole experience felt very odd, uncomfortable and I declined the position.
