In a nutshell: Not worthy of your time as a candidate. Maybe if you are okay with being low-balled after having the initial salary discussion before enduring through the rounds.
Here's how I wasted 45 days of my time and effort for this "egocentric " company: I reached out to the TA Lead through Angel.co (spoiler alert: she is a kind-hearted person and in no way a bad guy in this story) on 15th September, 2022.
Our initial call was scheduled on 23rd of September where we discussed in detail about the job, salaries and my expectations for the same. She noted them all and sent me a doc containing a set of culture questions that I was supposed to type the answers out.
1200 words later, I submitted the completed doc and was invited to speak to the head of engineering. It went well and then I was asked to finish the final round, which is a take home project, which I worked really hard and did pretty well on (her words, not mine).
Submitted the assignment on 3rd of October (well before the deadline) and heard back from them on October 12th. Here's where everything started to crumble. I was given a low-ball offer. When pointed out the earlier salary discussion, she said she needs to speak to the team about that and that she will get back to me in a couple of days about the final decision.
Remember I said above that she isn't the bad guy? Little did she know that in ContactOut world, a single day is equivalent to 9 earth days.
After two courtesy emails from her informing that the management is still taking time and two polite follow ups from me later on, she regrets to inform on 31st October, 2022 that their priorities have changed and they want to emphasize hiring "data-engineers" now (run data-engineers run!)
I hope my terrible interview experience with this company deters other candidates from wasting their time and hoping the kind TA lead gets another job soon and frees herself from the shackles of this egocentric company.
