Never made it to a recruiter screening.
Before getting a chance to meet with the recruiter, they asked to do a take home assignment. Fine, whatever, for IT, this is on the rarer side.
The prompt was to automate on/off-boarding between Zendesk and Rippling. Either I absolutely do not understand how Zendesk works or they're onto something that the rest of the IT community is not aware of.
After speaking with a friend who also applied at the same company but for a different role, the recruiting and/or IT team is absolutely delusional.
Their take home assignments is too extreme for IT. If this was for a product manager or tpm role, sure, case studies/take home assignments are a great way to prematurely assess a candidate. However, for a somewhat technical field such as IT when getting things done can be viewed as black or white, there's absolutely no need to make it more complicated then that.
After looking at some of the other feedback/reviews for this company, I'm honestly not surprised that this feels like a bait and switch, "Hey! Let's talk. Wait, first, you have to do this assignment." After they read your ideas, they say, go take a hike, it's not gonna work out, and walk away with your ideas for free99.
