      Dear recruiters, please don't do any of the following when screening candidates: • Don't call 2 minutes before our scheduled time as if I don't have other meetings or calls scheduled before our agreed-upon time. I had to end my other call abruptly as a result of this inconsiderate behavior. The recruiter also seemed clueless and offered no explanation or apology for doing this. • Don't eat food or candy right before a call. It was obvious the recruiter had some food or candy right before the call because, for 10 painful minutes, I had to endure loud tongue-clicking and lip-smacking over the phone. This is very unpleasant and unprofessional. • Don't hide the salary information from the job description and only reveal it at the very end of the screening call. Be transparent with compensation upfront as this helps both of us avoid any unnecessary waste of time. When it was finally revealed to be around 70k after making it clear that I have nearly 20 years of experience, I politely told her we were not realistically aligned on compensation and that I was no longer interested in the role. I basically had to force the conversation to end early as a result of all this foolishness. I would encourage serious retraining for their recruiting team on the importance of posting salary information and how to properly conduct screening calls.
