I applied online and received a message from the recruiter via Smartrecruiters about 1 1/2 months later. She set up a short call two days later which lasted about 20 mins and was very natural and casual. At that time she outlined the hiring process and told me she would speak with the hiring manager. A few days later I received an email saying that they wanted to set up a time for me to speak with the would be manager of the position. We scheduled a time for that Thursday but 5 mins before the time I received an email canceling due to something coming up in his schedule. I was rescheduled for the next Wednesday. Although it was a slight inconvenience I certainly understand that things come up. We spoke on Wednesday and again, it was a very natural chat. He asked me to tell him about myself and then he'd answer any questions I had. At the end of the call he told me he'd talk with the hiring manager about how it went and hopefully I'd hear back by the end of the week. On Monday I received a form letter from Smartrecruiters letting me know that they're going to move forward with other candidates. While the outcome was certainly disappointing the professionalism and comfort of the whole process only served to further my desire to work at Square in the future.
