Interview was very non technical and felt more like a general fit check. Questions asked were for example: Why ICB, Why Blackrock, What makes you a perfect fit for this role etc

Superday Remote- 2021
This experience dampened my excitement for working at BlackRock because of the lack of preparation and respect to me as a potential hire. No one took this Superday seriously and it showed. The first guy was eating during our interview and started the interview by walking away from the camera to make coffee as I introduced myself and spoke about why I was interested in the position. He proceeded to talk for the remainder of our interview and I could barely get a word in edgewise as he did not ask me a single question about my experience.
The second interviewer was just as bad. She failed to take control of the interview and made me lead the conversation until at one point I had to ask her if she had any questions for me because she did not come prepared with how to conduct an interview.
The third interviewer was noticeable threatened by my work ethic and stellar GPA. When I boasted about wanting to be a leader at BlackRock and my strong work ethic, he was noticeably intimidated and rudely responded with how he wanted to be a leader as well, and how there are a lot of hard workers at BlackRock- implying that he was my competition and I couldn’t “out work” him. I thought it was poorly planned to have a recent hire interview people whom he would be competing with- since his main objective is not to hire the best candidate but to hire someone who would not overshadow him and take away any opportunities or promotions from him. He was very rude in his demeanor and refuted my answers several times. I gave a perfect answer to his question regarding current events between Tesla and China and he wasn’t even aware of the news that was on the cover of the Wall Street Journal just a few days prior and he proceeded to quiz me about when it was published, as if to catch me lying or making the story up. I even quoted a Managing Director in Portfolio Management at Blackrock who I had recently spoken to regarding the culture at BlackRock, and he even refuted that. Frankly, I am better suited for this analyst position than the current analyst is- my education is more impressive, my experience is better suited for the role, and my people skills are significantly stronger.
Lastly, BlackRock boasts about diversity but from the first round of interviews to the Superday, I interviewed with only men and the one woman I interviewed with was filling in for someone on paternity leave.
All in all, not very impressed.
