Got called in for a first interview with the hiring manager, lasted about an hour and very casual. No HR person present the entire time I was there. Mostly talked about the company and how great it is to work there, and how great the owner is, spoke about the position and the roles and duties of the job. Didn't really ask many details about my work history other than a walk through of my resume. When I left I was told I'd hear from them in two weeks about the possibility of coming back for another, more detailed interview. After 4 weeks of nothing, I emailed the HR contact (no reply--standard operating procedure for HR these days); three weeks or so later, I got an automated rejection email. I found out later (after I was rejected for the position) they had at some point contacted my previous employer, yet I was not asked for any professional references or if they could contact my previous employer(s); I never even filled out an official employment application. In fact, they contacted my old work group, so I'm not sure who they even spoke to. Either way, I think they have solid product and the facility was nice, but contacting people I used to work with without even being given the chance to provide professional references is shady.
