I applied for a role at BMO early September and wrapped up the process about a month or so later. I'd say the experience was pretty standard. The first call was a conversation with a recruiter - typical screening questions to gauge fit for the role. I appreciated the recruiter also being so upfront and transparent regarding logistics. She was a bit disorganized with some of the details regarding the role, which muddied the process. I then spoke to the Hiring Manager and again, it wasn't too complicated. They asked about prior work history, some behavioral questions, and to check if technical skillset aligned with job needs. I thought we had a really good conversation but then there was silence for about two weeks until I reached back out for a status update. Ultimately, they went in a different direction. By the phrasing of the email, it sounded like someone was willing to do the job for less than me. I don't think these are tough jobs to get but pay did not feel very competitive for someone with significant experience.
