      TL;DR for candidates hoping to join: My interview process stretched over 60 days and in that time, I'm sorry to say but I found these folks to be callous and/or unprofessional. Safe to stay away unless you don't have an alternative. A setup that is this bad _before_ hiring, is definitely going to be worse on the inside. In my experience, folks here forgot to send emails or claimed to miss mine. Interviews got rescheduled. The CEO too postponed my 'Final interview' once (which was fine) but he just didn't show up in the re-scheduled meeting! The HR didn't care to reply to my email about whether the CEO planned to join. I had emailed their head of engineering who also hasn't yet replied. A few hours later I received an email from their 'no-reply' email address telling me that the company is no longer hiring for my timezone. The website continues to say: 'We want to hire the best people at AssemblyAI, regardless of location. Our remote-first culture allows employees to work from anywhere in the world autonomously.' I was asked to prepare a design doc to solve a set of technical challenges in a system. In the doc review meeting, it became evident that they hadn't taken the efforts to read my document. The company has absolutely nothing to lose asking people to spend time on such things. Therefore, be careful/mindful of the time you spend interviewing.

Regarding the design document, we understand that candidates put a significant amount of time and effort into preparing these materials, and it is unacceptable that they were not given the attention they deserved. We have taken steps to improve our process, and have since adjusted the way we evaluate candidates for this team to ensure that all candidates receive prompt and respectful feedback. We appreciate your willingness to share your experience with us, and wish you the best of luck in you career and future endeavors.
