My experience with the recruitment process was disappointing. While I was still based overseas applied a role at Sydney at the time, I was told that my background would only qualify me for an entry-level position with a salary slightly above graduate level. This assessment did not reflect my several years of experience in global financial institutions, including Assistant Manager responsibilities and substantial exposure to relevant fund accounting work. I was also told that it would be extremely difficult to secure a fund accounting role in Sydney without prior local experience, and that only 1 year of my work history was considered relevant. As I was not yet familiar with the Australian job market, I proceeded with the interviews despite feeling uncertain about the feedback. I was not progressed after the second round. However, after relocating to Sydney, I secured a senior role with a large multinational investment bank within only a week. The responsibilities in my current role are highly similar to those described in the Alter Domus interviews, and the organisation is significantly larger. Also they offered me almost 2 times the salary level offered by Alter Domus previously. This contrast made me question whether the earlier evaluation of my experience and the indication of role level were aligned with broader market standards. Overall, I found the communication around expectations, experience recognition and role alignment lacking in transparency. This experience has affected my willingness to consider opportunities with the firm in the future.

First call with Human Resources over the phone. Then you have to do an Accounting test in 30 minutes. Lastly you have an interview with two managers, roughly for 40 minutes.
